Zara (stage name “Chasing Leaves”), is a young award winning singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist musician from Poole, Dorset. When performing live, Zara will carefully select a playlist of her own original compositions, combined with an eclectic mix of post 2000 pop charting songs. This mix has proven to have a broad appeal, and especially appreciated by audiences who like to listen to good quality music, played at a volume level that works in harmony with social interaction.

Zara writes, records and mixes all of her own original songs, and also records and produces all of the Cover song backing tracks. These bespoke backing tracks are used to provide a more layered, immersive and interesting soundscape. That said, Zara is also adept at performing without backing tracks or fully unplugged, but the majority of her audiences do prefer the more layered sound.

The first Chasing Leaves album will be released later this year (2026).

Having already performed live more than 100 times (Open Mic's, Busking, Bars, Hotels, Festivals, Concert Venues, etc.), Zara is already building a reputation for having a unique singing voice, being a polished and stylish performer, and for being someone that has a great future ahead of her in the music industry.

Whilst this may not be usual for a EPK, I would also like to state that for me, meeting so many artists, promoters, sound engineers, lighting technicians, venue staff, and all of the organisational & logistics professionals who work behind the scenes, has been a "collective highlight" of my musical journey.

Zara (stage name “Chasing Leaves”), is a young award winning singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist musician.

For Zara, her music journey began at the age of five with piano lessons, where within a few weeks she was identified as being “musically gifted”. This unexpected revelation did not mean that learning to play instruments was easy, it simply meant that her many hours of practice usually produced better than expected "age related outcomes".

Over the next few years, Bass Guitar, Acoustic Guitar, Electric Guitar, Synthesizer, Singing, etc. were added to the existing piano practice regime. And to assist with the learning, Zara also started to record her singing and instrumental abilities on DAW software.

Aged twelve, Zara joined BandJam (a local youth music club), and this is where her love for singing and live performing really started to develop.

Note: To ensure that Zara had enough time to develop her music "gift," in 2020 Zara left the mainstream education system and became Home Educated. Firstly, there was a 50/50 split between academic lessons and music learning, and then from sixteen to eighteen it was 100% music (a minimum of 35 hours per week).

Aged fifteen, Zara started performing solo at Open Mic events, Busking and local Showcases.

Aged seventeen, Zara performed at the Lighthouse Theatre Poole, and also won an Original Music Award.

Now eighteen, Zara has become a full-time professional musician with very ambitious career goals e.g. to become an International Superstar!

Whilst Zara's 'Home Education' phase has now been completed, to meet her career ambitions there is no time to waste. She now has a four year plan (phase two), where she will continue to practise and develop her singing, instrument playing, songwriting, recording and live performing as before, but now has many additional skills to master e.g. social media, business skills, networking, etc.

Final thoughts : -

If, and when, Zara does become an International Superstar, what will be her secret?

Well the mystical "gift" might be a contributing factor but in reality, it's more about two types of dedication.

1) Dedicated to learning (and not just cherry-picking and practising the things that you like to learn).

2) Dedicated to ignoring the people who state that you cannot do it!

Both of the above are incredibly difficult to do, but this first thing is actually within your own control. Unfortunately, it's the second thing that is the hardest to overcome, simply because the "Naysayers" won't stop until you actually become an International Superstar.

Obviously, Zara (aka Chasing Leaves), has not yet achieved International Superstardom. However, by the time I reach twenty two I will be able to earn a reasonable income doing a job that I truly love... so for all of the Naysayers past, present and future, "fuck you"!

But to finish this section of a positive note: For all of the wonderful people who understood that for me, a conventional education and playing safe was never going be a viable option, and who have gone out of their way to offer me so much thoughtful support and advice (past present and future)...
